the new girl in town

Hey Shorty

Posted in fashion by Dani on March 3, 2010

Okay, sugar plums: I promise I have a legit excuse for the mini post lull over the past week or so. I have been sick for over five days! No joke, darlings. Fortunately, I am all better now.

As spring looms near (and a little bit too far away), shorts are popping everywhere. I noticed this fresh new style trend last month: (… yes, muffins. In February. Haha.) Take a peek for yourself with H&M‘s sassy shorts report. Very informative if I may say so myself.

When taking a look at international stores within the H&M family, I seemed to lean toward the classic chic look. Case in point, these.

In addition to H&M, it seems that Forever 21 has countless pairs of these pants online. Is it just me or do you just love the fact that Forever 21 has several different brands to choose from? My favorite of the brilliant bunch? Love 21 Contemporary. With that written, my favorite shorts from the cluster of cuties would have to be Love 21 Contemporary’s long belted shorts.

What is your favorite trend of the spring season, doll faces? I would love to know!

Stay warm,

Dani

Where Have You Been All My Life?

Apologies for the humongous hiatus, loves! Things have been super busy lately…, but in the absolute best way possible. Nonetheless, I’m back and ready to go!

Just a heads-up, darlings: A mini (I promise.) lull until Thursday. Midterms are in full throttle. You know what that means? Study, study, study! Haha.

Speaking of midterms, while I will be blogging this week, I may not necessarily be publishing posts on my personal blog. Pretty please (with sugar on top) visit my art process blog. Thank you bunches, muffins! You’re the best!

FYI: American fashion designer, Thakoon Panichgon makes beautiful clothing. No lie, folks. It’s pretty much amazing. With its subtle color palette and modern, playful silhouettes, these garments just scream chic. Just give it looksy, darlings!

Very cute. Love the legwear.

The jacket is too precious. Haha.

I love the ethereal colors. Very chic.

I love the ethereal colors. Super chic.

The pieces were from his Fall 2010 collection. A little ahead of myself, I know, but who could possibly resist? Want to see what Thakoon is up to this spring? Feast your eyes on these fun floral frocks.

Have a beautiful day, sugar plums!

Paz,

Dani

Sporty Spice

Good evening, sugar plums! While completing my previous post pertaining to City & Me’s Spring/Summer line, I stumbled across ADIDAS new line. The feature of the Spring/Summer 2010 season, adidas Originals has just launched its spanking new blue label collection called, “Originals A.039,”  the internal code for the Originals blue hue. Not only are these pieces playful but they are also bright and bubbly with fabulous flourescents and modern silhouettes. Just take a looksy for yourselves!

This outfit is fly from head to toe.

Oh, how I love these shoes! They are too cute! I would definitely wear a pair. The muted grey and lime green compliment one another incredibly well.

These two clothing articles could not look better together. This outfit is so much fun! I also love the gray pants along with the black and white striped suspenders. Layering? Uh-mazing! Haha.

I love how the stylist transformed a basic into something extra-ordinary.

Fascinating design.

The top of this outfit is very cool.

Just love the hard look, owing to the necklace chains.

Very cute... and just look at the embedded "77" in the front!

Very raspberry-y. Haha.

Have a splendid evening, honey bees!

G’night,

Dani

The City

Hi, doll faces! I hope that your week is going amazingly well! Guess what? Chinese fashion label, Me & City (Adorable name, right? Would make a super fun website handle. Haha.) has just launched an ad campaign with It Brits, Orlando Bloom and Agyness Deyn for their Spring/Summer 2010 line. Similar to the mocha mogul & Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, Me & City is not merely interested in selling their fresh and fun clothing but also a lifestyle to match. Smart, eh? Now that’s what I call public relations.  Haha. Just see for yourselves, muffins.

The cool color scheme along with the blazer (formal) and jean (casual) contrast worn by Orlando is simply splendid.

Very La-La Land.

Very cool yet edgy scene. I love how Agyness's dark clothing contrast the playfulness of the ice cream truck.

I love how this scene evokes a casual yet chic vibe.

Are those fruits organic? Yum! Haha.

Aww... din-din at home! How cute! Haha.

This scene just brims with fun and flair.

Love Agyness's edgy haircut.

Fabulous, right?  Have a bright & sunny day, cupcakes!

Paz,

Dani

Trail Blazers

Posted in art, fashion by Dani on January 29, 2010

A wintry yet lovely morning, muffins! Noticing decades worth of fashion trends, it is safe to say that blazers [and broad shoulders, for that matter] are not leaving the runways nor the sidewalks any time soon. Seeing women rock this timeless jacket for what seems like forever, I thought about the origin’s of these pop tops just a few hours ago: Menswear.  Along with the blazer, the leather bomber, baggy pants, and pea coat also seem to be gracing the shoulders of both men and women alike. Speaking of menswear,  just feast your eyes on the attire from this season’s fashion week.

What’s your favorite classic clothing article? Do tell!

Have a fabulous weekend, lovies!

Bright & shiny,

Dani

P.S. A little random, but just an FYI: I. love. these. shoes. These Elizabeth & James pairs of prettiness [ …discovered them while searching Polyvore for blazers] are both chic and works of [sculptural] art.

Bella!

Good afternoon, cupcakes! Two summers ago, I visited the Textile Museum while exploring the District in search of an ideal venue for an upcoming event. While there, a friend of mine was kind of enough to buy me two exquisite Nigerian woven banglesfrom their gift shop in exchange for my vintage store plastics. It was a done deal. My newest TeMu darling? Vere Tyvek bags. In addition to being recycable, these stellar sacks are rather hardy, holding up to 20 lbs. of goodies.

Ooh... pretty. Haha.

Another  fabulous feature? The sharp colors are so cool and cutting edge! I have come to realize that I am pretty much a sap for anything metallic these days, owing to my pet Christmas present last year.

I practically wear this bracelet everyday.

Have a super duper Saturday!

Optimistically,

Dani

P.S. I think if my Nigerian bracelets were to ever be converted into a purse, the following would be the end result […and it would be uh-mazing! Haha.]:

So cute. Summer ready, much? Haha.

Hello, Cupcake.

Posted in fashion, more by Dani on January 20, 2010

Cupcakes, anyone?

A very good night, sweeties! As spring begins to loom amongst us, pastels and candy colors are in full bloom, putting me in the mood for something light and sweet in the kitchen. Since it is not yet time to retire your peacoat to the closet, fruit-flavored cold treats will have to wait awhile. Cupcakes seem just right. My three reasons for loving these bite-sized babies?

1) They are teeny tiny and tidy. Who can say no to miniature anything? It just makes everything better [… and they are mess-free due to their small size. Yay!].

2) They are plain dee down delightful. Because these cutie pies are itsy bitsy, they are also too adorable for words. It is safe to say that they are literally the “babies” (= wee and darling) of the dessert world.

3) They are versatile. Cupcakes are capable of anything! Case in point: the super cute cookbook: Hello, Cupcake! I never knew the sheer and utter adaptibility of these precious puppies until I glanced through its photographs. Amazing, much? Yeah! The “Hello, Cupcake!” blog is pixel proof. So creative. Makes me want to take up vegan cupcaking, which is definitely a possibility, especially over the summer months.  Thank you tons, Hello Cupcake: You’re the best!

As I surfed the Internet this afternoon, I stumbled across a series of high fashion cupcakes. Photographed by Therese Aldgard and styled by Lisa Edsalv, these Swedish talents created a divine photo shoot of whimsical desserts. Take a look for yourself, muffins!

Who can resist these pretty, pastel pieces? Yum!

So chic. Just like Chanel.

Maraschino cherries make everything sweeter.

These cupcakes look so rich and chocolate-y. Haha.

Until next post,

Dani

Dressed to Impress

Outfits styled by me... compliments of the amazing Polyvore.com! Yay! Go, PoVo! Go, PoVo! Haha.

“Why go through life as milk when you can be mocha almond fudge? –Stacy London, What Not To Wear

As New Years fast approaches, resolutions are in full force. I must admit: a goals list is my absolute favorite part of ringing in the New Year; and I am more determined than ever! I am super ecstatic to say the least. If inspirational little Olive and Elliot can fulfill their dreams, why can’t we? Haha. In addition to a number of other resolutions, one of them includes having oodles of fun with my attire.

Written by the editor-in-chief of Collegefashion.net, Zephyr, “25 Reasons Why You Should Dress Up” is a nifty editorial with compelling incentives to dress up on a daily basis, not just on special occasions. When I say write, “dress up,” I literally don’t mean wearing a dress per se but rather sporting an outfit that makes you feel fun, free, and most importantly FIERCE. Although an “oh so comfy” pair of sweatpants are never to be completely abandoned, there is nothing wrong with dolling up every now and then just for fun. You are fabulous and you owe it to yourself. Life is a celebration, so why not have a party every so often (… or every day if you’re up for it. Haha.)?

Happy New Years Eve, doll faces! May your evening and year be filled with  joy, love,  and peace.

With anticipation,

Dani

P.S. Below is a demo video just recently uploaded from Michelle Phan’s YouTube Channel specifically on New Years Eve makeup. Enjoy, muffins!

Wam. Glam. Thank You, Ma’am.

Posted in fashion by Dani on December 30, 2009

Good evening, sweet peas! I hope that your day went amazingly well! Entirely enthused by Shannon‘s stellar new post, “How-To X 2: Rice Water for Healthy Skin and Making a Good Video,” on successful video tutorials, I checked out Michelle Phan’s Channel on YouTube.

If you have not already done so, please check out Shannon’s post. One word, folks: uh-mazing. Not does her post provide valuable guidelines for an excellent video (and a super clean face), but it contains fundamental pointers to a booming blog as well.

When I first visited Michelle Phan‘s YouTube webpage, I came across a demo  entitled, “Holiday Glam.” As New Years Eve fast approaches, I could not pass up the chance to post this seasonal seminar on beauty. Why not leave 2009 with a bang? Plus, I finally discovered what that curve of my upper lip is called. (It’s called a “Cupid’s Bow.” Adorable, right? Haha.) Without further adieu, “Holiday Glam”…

Isn’t she just terrific? Instructive and intriguing. The best of both worlds. The following are several picks to accomplish this simply stunning look.

No. 2 de Polyvore.com. To visit the original website where all items were found, please click on the image above.

Makeup: Due to my fondness of the infamous “shadowy eye,” I chose to use a dark shade of plum, which gives the impression of an eggplant-like hue. In keeping with this vibe, I also decided to apply a warm shade of white that appears especially creamy.

Dress: With its polished design and champagne color, this lovely cocktail dress is ideal for any holiday get-together as it is both fun and sleek.

Accessories: While perusing various pieces, I came across this crazy cute vintage deer brooch. Fitting for both the dress and the occasion, this fashion ornament just seems to work.

Have a safe and fun-filled evening, muffins! …and a Happy New Year! May this impending year be the best one yet!

Happily,

Dani

Pretty in Pink

Posted in fashion by Dani on December 28, 2009

Mondo apologies, sugar plums! With all of the holiday decorating, mall shopping, and envelope stuffing, I lost track of last week and (sadly) thus my blog. No worries though! I hope that everyone had a terrific Christmas!

As New Years draws near, an overabundance of thoughts race through my head, including the perfect New Year’s Eve attire. Even if you’re spending the evening at home with a few close friends watching musical performances from the Top 40 in the swanky Times Square and gobbling popcorn (…, which sounds super cute and cozy to me), the night brings the opportunity to have fun with your wardrobe, ringing in the new year with sparkle, smiles, and style. Inspired by Emanuel Ungaro’s Spring 2010 RTW looks (Yes. I am in love with this line, but I can’t help it! Haha.), I styled the outfit below. Collages + Fashion = An unlimited amount of fun. Haha.

“Over the years, I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” –Yves Saint Laurent

This outfit is my very first created on Polyvore.com!

1. Crumpet Sloppy Joe Cashmere Sweater ($322)– Due to its hue along with its simple yet chic assymetrical silhouette, I thought this sweater would make the perfect basic in almost any instance.

2. Unisex Ring ($20) – Once again, this piece of jewelry is both elegant but simple. I love to wear rings like these (solid and substantial) on my thumb for an edgy touch.

3. Charlotte Bag by Paul Boutique ($85) – This flourescent pink clutch is both bright and bubbly but also classic owing to its quilted design. FYI: This purse was actually the inspirational for the entirety of my outfit. I have a thing for quilted clutches and now (apparently) hot pink. Haha.

4. Hot Pink Pumps ($76.49) – Although matching shoes and bags do not stand as a steadfast rule for every occasion, it just seemed to work in this instance. Plus, from the bold shade to the razor-sharp shape, these pair of puppies are just too fiery to say no to! Haha.

5. Kenneth Jay Lane Crystal-Embellished Tiger Cuff  ($225) –  In keeping with Teen Vogue, animal prints are making everyday avenues into street safaris. As a result, who says that these patterns must merely be confined to your clothes and footwear? Why not your arm too? Haha.

6. Fortune Nail Lacquer ($2.80) – In attempt not to overkill on neon, I thought a splash of gold nail polish would be a subtle contrast to the rest of the outfit.

7. Daisy by Marc Jacobs ($72) Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my signature fragrance, so I just had to include the perfume in my very first style design. Haha.

8. Barry M. Dazzle Dust ($7.05) – Despite the fact that I am not entirely sure if this cosmetic item is blush, eye shadow, or lipstick, this color is just the thing to give your cheeks a slight pop of pink.

9. Sephora Colorful Mat Mono Eyeshadow ($5) – With several applications of this slate grey eye shadow, Sephora’s makeup would give you the ultimate smoky eye, which is ideal for any night on the town.

10. Armani “Eyes to Kill” Mascara ($28) –  Mascara is the cherry on top of a perfect face application.

… and there you have it: my earliest Polyvore style attempt. (Merci, PoVo.) So, what do you think, my loves? Yea or nay?

Have a fabulous evening, darlings! Four three more days until New Years Day. The anticipation is killing me! Haha.

Sparkle & shine,

Dani

BTW: I added some looks from the marvelous Olsenboye look book on the last post. Bursting at the seams with fun candy-colored pastels designs, these outfits are more than spring-ready (…, which I am so looking forward to. Haha.) and age-appropriate as well.
